okay, im new to camping, and im shopping for gear, what are the basic necessities for a few days to a week out in the woods for two people? give me a list of stuff to bring to make our outing enjoyable, we will be camping in a mostly flat area with a lot of tall pine trees. we have never camped out in the woods before, so were novices when it comes to this, so give us a list of stuff that a novice would need.
There are a lot of things that would be beneficial for you to take:
*A good strong water proof backpack
*A good hiking or down sleeping bag
*A good strong tarp and rope
*Biovac or 1 or 2 person tent
*A small compact camp stove
*Purification tablets for water
*1 good strong pot (boiling and cooking)
*A water bottle Bear Spray and/ or Bells
*Good strong Lug-soled boots
*Compass or Navigation equipment
*Space Blanket, keeps in heat
*Sunscreen
*First Aid Kit (wilderness type)
*Good strong hiking socks (wool ones)
*Heavy thick rope — bear prevention
*Field guide of animal tracks
*A shovel for digging latrine
*Toilet Paper
*Also pack your common sense!!!
*A map book that has Back Country
*A fishing licence
*A GPS monitor to show coordinates
*Fishing equipment (if fishing)
*A rain poncho
*A waterproof covering for the backpack
*A swiss army knife (in appropriate case)
*Clothing for warm and cold weather
*Matches in a waterproof container
*Insect Repellent Epi- Pen for bee stings Tweezers for ticks, slivers etc.
*Good strong work gloves
*Hammer (compact)
*Flares (not for forested or grassed areas)
* Notebook for details
*Food– energy food especially
*Whistle — for communications
*Climbing Picks (if going on ice/rocks)
